Sophie Thomson

Community-focused advocate, media professional, and environmental leader.

Sophie Thomson is a horticulturist, media personality, and passionate advocate for the power of gardening to transform lives. Known for her engaging presence across television, radio, live events, and digital platforms, Sophie inspires audiences to grow food, nurture their environments, and strengthen community connections.

At the heart of Sophie’s work is a deep belief that gardening supports health, wellbeing, and resilience. Over the past five years, she has continued to work extensively with communities on Kangaroo Island following the devastating bushfires, helping residents rebuild landscapes and restore a sense of hope. More recently, she has been supporting flood-affected communities along the Murray, alongside earlier work in drought-impacted regions across South Australia.

Sophie’s contribution has been widely recognised. She was named South Australia’s Inspirational Woman of the Year in 2024, inducted onto the South Australian Women’s Honour Roll in 2023, awarded the Pelzer Environmental Prize in 2022, and listed among The Advertiser’s Top 50 Influencers in the South Australian environment sector in 2021.
