Ralph began his career in Industrial Relations as a union official for the Federated Clerks Union. He then became President of that union and served on other national union organisations. He is currently a member of several Government Advisory Boards.
Ralph was elected to the South Australian Parliament in 1993 and held many portfolios and positions during his political career, including Deputy Leader of the Parliamentary Labor Party as well as several Shadow Ministries. After leaving politics he was elected to the Adelaide City Council where he served for several years.
A broad sense of humour and quick wit enables Ralph to make his point succinctly and effectively.
The Australia Day Council of South Australia acknowledges the Adelaide region as the traditional country of the Kaurna people and respect Elders past, present and emerging. We recognise and respect their cultural heritage, beliefs and relationship with the land.
