It was an honour to visit the Eyre Peninsula and Upper Spencer Gulf regions in November 2022.
The City of Port Lincoln warmly welcomed us with our first stop on 16 November at Port Lincoln High School. Mark Le Messurier – 2022 SA Senior Australian of the Year, Dr Trudy Lin – 2022 SA Young Australian of the Year, Monique Bareham – 2022 SA Local Hero, Lymphoedema Advocate and Taryn Brumfitt – recently proclaimed 2023 SA Australian of the Year, shared inspiring and encouraging words with the Year 9 and Year 10 students.
We were thrilled to host a free community screening of Taryn Brumfitt’s movie, Embrace Kids, at the wonderful Nautilus Arts Centre. We sincerely thank the Port Lincoln community for joining us at this special evening.
It was privilege to be back at University of South Australia Whyalla Campus on 18 November and to connect with a variety of community members, particularly students from Sunrise Christian School. We were grateful to support partner, Respirico Healthcare, for joining us at this inspiring forum.
Our SA Australian of the Year recipients captivated students in Year 10 at Whyalla Secondary College – reinforcing that anything is possible and to always pursue your dreams, no matter the challenges you may face.
We were honoured to be invited by CEO of Whyalla City Council to attend a local Leadership Forum that explored how the community can continue to build their identity and create a greater sense of belonging. Our inspiring South Australians led a rich and deep conversation with leaders across various fields, and shared profound messages that will stay with the community for years to come.
Thank you to the City of Port Pirie and local community for a warmly received public forum at the Northern Festival Centre and to St Mark’s College students and teachers for your engagement at the school forum.
We were overwhelmed by comments received from the Tour of Honour Eyre Peninsula and Upper Spencer Gulf –
‘Thank you so much for coming to Port Lincoln and helping activate our community. Thank you again for your support, as you can see it makes a huge difference in our community, particularly with regard to reconciliation around Australia Day. Cheers, Matt’
‘Council is grateful for the opportunity provided to host this wonderful, annual event. The tour was extremely successful, and the guest speakers kept the audience captivated with their narratives.’
A special shout out to our support partners for the Tour of Honour in Port Lincoln, Whyalla and Port Pirie –
