Heidi Van Gerwen: Former Belgian Consul to South Australia

 

Trained as a Chef, Patisserie and Chocolate Chef, Heidi, until recently, continued her career as the Educational Manager of the Hotel School at TAFESA Regency Park International Centre for Hospitality & Food Services.

Heidi’s passion is training Food and Hospitality industry professionals and as a consequence contributing to the South Australian Tourism industry. As a Gold winning Medallist herself, Heidi has judged in State, National and International Cooking competitions. The highlight was as Chief Judge of the Tasting Australia Culinary competition and being in charge of a team of celebrity chefs and journalists including South Australian chef Simon Bryant and Pete Evans of My Kitchen Rules.

Heidi’s role as Honorary Consul for Belgium required her to provide consular aid (including emergency assistance), perform official duties on behalf of the Belgium Government and to educate and inform the local community about Belgium.  She was also on the steering committee for the Consular Corps of SA.
